Nursery

Our Nursery students typically arrive and go straight to play, either indoors or outside on our awesome playground. Each classroom has age-appropriate toys, blocks, dramatic play centers, trucks and so much more. Toys are changed frequently and based on student’s interests. During playtime students will be individually encouraged to try the daily project, based on our emergent literacy program. There will also be an opportunity to work on pencil and writing skills.

The class will then gather for a quick circle time where the concepts of time (calendar), weather, flag salute, and a letter of the week (and/or a theme of the week) are introduced. Circle is kept to an age-appropriate length and music and movement is also incorporated. Following is handwashing and snack. Then more play and a story break. Schedules are unique for each class and may look slightly different. Teachers use best practices and offer lots of encouragement with the students. Each class has a child-size toilet and a handwashing sink to make sure we stay healthy and clean!
